How We Help

Our focus at the Shepard Cancer Center is not only improving the everyday life of our patients and their caregivers but also to meet the needs of the community at large by expanding our prevention and early detection effort. Through your support we have been able to offer our patients, caregivers, local survivors and the community programs that support our mission to improve mind, body and spirit of those we serve. Below are some of the programs and events we host at the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center and throughout the community.

Patients, Survivors and Caregivers are offered

Free 25 minute massages by appointment at two locations

Free weekly yoga class

Journaling classes

Knowledge is Power and Lunch and Learn seminars

Patients are offered

Look Good, Feel Better classes; partnered with American Cancer Society

Financial assistance to patients who have become financially stressed as a result of having cancer. including:

  • Medical equipment at the Cancer Center as well as in patient homes
  • Professional counseling and wigs, prosthetics and lymphedema garments
  • Initial cost of colonoscopies, PET, CT, MRI and other scans
  • Rent and utilities when a patient’s medical expenses become financially overwhelming
  • Over the counter medications to help manage symptoms and side effects

Survivors are offered

Survivors Got Talent – an annual celebration for all cancer survivors

Caregivers are offered

Caregivers Appreciation event and Memory Bear workshops for those who lost a loved one      

Community is offered

Knowledge is Power and Lunch and Learn seminars are hosted throughout the year that focus on specific cancers, screenings and early detection.
